ALIEV TELMAN ABBAS – 85

Aliyev Telman Abbas oglu was born in Goranboy District on May 2, 1935.
He graduated from the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute (1958). He obtained the degree of Candidate of Sciences in Engineering (1966), Doctor of Sciences in Engineering (1977), was granted the title of Professor (1985). He was elected a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan SSR in 1983 and a Full Member of ANAS in 2001.

T. Aliev worked as a technician, engineer, senior engineer at the Computing Center of the Academy of Sciences (1958-1962), chief engineer, researcher, head of department and laboratory in 1965-1982, as deputy director for science (1982-1984) and as director at the Institute of Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences (1988-2014) worked in positions. He was head of department at the Azerbaijan Civil Engineering Institute. In 1997-2001, he worked as the academic secretary of the Division of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences of ANAS. In 2014-2020, he was the Director of the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS.

As the main organizer and until 1976 the head of the Laboratory of Electronic Computing Machines set up in Azerbaijan long before the other Union republics in 1958-1960, T.A. Aliev made a significant impact on the rapid development of computer science in Azerbaijan. He created the technologies and theory of robust signal analysis, the theory and technology of ensuring the adequacy of identification, recognition and diagnostics of stochastic processes, the technologies and the theory of analysis of the noise in signals as a carrier of useful information, the technology and theory of position-binary analysis of cyclic noisy signals, proposed the theoretical foundations for creating "noise technologies and systems for monitoring the latent period of accidents" at technical facilities. These theories have been reflected in monographs published by Kluwer (New York) and Springer (London), recommended as textbooks for Western universities. The system created under the guidance and with the direct participation of T. Aliev was implemented at the H. Aliyev Oil Refinery, at Shirvan Oil Company, Balakhany Oil and Gas Production Facility. In 2013, an experimental version of the new generation "robust noise monitoring system" was introduced at 35 facilities Bibi-Heybat Oil and Gas Production Department, providing remote diagnostics and control of downhole oil production equipment and allowing to double the profitability.

T. Aliev is the author of 685 scientific works, including 27 monographs and 72 patents. He has been academic advisor of 12 Doctors of Science and 37 Doctors of Philosophy. He is a member of the editorial board of prestigious international scientific journals published in Russia and Ukraine.

Telman Aliev was awarded the Keldysh Medal (1991), the Order of Glory (Shohret) (2004) and the International Academician Azad Mirzajanzade Silver Medal (2018). In 2009 he was awarded the title of Honored Science Worker. 2015). He is a laureate of the N. Tusi Prize of ANAS (2015). In 1993-1994, the International Biographical Center in Cambridge included his name in the book "Men of Achievement" and awarded him the "Gold Star" medal in 1997.

The editorial board of the journal congratulates the outstanding scientist, Doctor of Engineering, Academician T.A. Aliev on his milestone birthday and wishes him good health and new scientific achievements!
