IMANOV GORKHMAZ JAHANGIR – 80
Imanov Gorkhmaz Jahangir oglu was born on April 17, 1941 in the city of Baku.
He received his secondary education at school No.199 in Baku. In 1964, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the Azerbaijan State University and continued his studies as a postgraduate student at the Central Economic Mathematical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow in 1964-1967. He defended his Candidate's dissertation "Using economic and mathematical methods and computers in the problems of cargo transportation optimization" in 1968 and his doctoral dissertation "Problems of building an integrated system of optimal planning models of the national economy of the union republics" in 1975. G. Imanov was granted the title of Professor in 1983 and was elected a Corresponding Member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in 2017.
From 1968 to 1969 G. Imanov worked as a junior researcher at the Institute of Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR, from 1969 to 1971 as a senior lecturer and associate professor at the Azerbaijan Institute of National Economy named after D. Bunyadzade. In September 1971, he came back to the Institute of Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan as a senior researcher; in 1974-1987 he worked as a Head of Laboratory and later Head of Department at the Institute of Cybernetics. In 1987-1993, G. Imanov headed the State Planning Committee of Azerbaijan and later the Scientific Research Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Economy. He was a senior adviser at the Institute of Market Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1993-1998 and at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1999-2000. Since 2001, he has been an employee of the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS, first as a senior researcher, and currently as a Head of Laboratory.
G. Imanov's research focuses on the study of the system of models for the analysis and forecasting of the development of the socio-economic system. He has more than 220 published scientific works, including about 100 published abroad. G. Imanov is also the author of 16 books, including 10 published abroad. Among them, Forecasting Models of the Economy, Models of Economic Systems, Modern Economy, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic, Fuzzy models in Economics and other works have won the sympathy of the scientific community.

In 1984, he was awarded the State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR in the field of Science "For the development of economic-mathematical models and means of computer technology and their wide application in solving problems of planning and management in the national economy."
In 2012, Gorkhmaz Imanov was elected a foreign member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Science, an honorary member of the European Association of Doctors. In 2015, he received the award of the International Scientific Foundation of Economic Research named after Academician N.P. Fedorenko. He is a member of the editorial board of the Ukraine-based journal Neuro-Fuzzy Modeling Technologies in Economics.
